Paddy Cultivation
For seedling preparation, choose a paddy variety. Choose long-lasting varieties like Swarna sub-1, Rajendra Masuri, Sabour Deep, Sabour Sampan for low-land areas, and medium-lasting types like Rajendra Sweta, Sonam, BPT-5204, Arize -6444, Rupali, MTU-1001 for medium-land areas. Raise the nursery in June so that it can be transplanted in July. Short duration paddy varieties such as Sabour Ardhjal, Sahbhagi, CR dhaan-40, Turanta, Shushk Samrat, Swarn Shreya, and others can be selected and sown directly using the DSR method under highland conditions.
Procedure and chemicals required for paddy
Farmers must treat their seed with carbendazim (2.5 g/kg seed) and streptocycline (1.0 g per 3 kg seed) before sowing seedlings. For weed management in paddy nursery, apply N:P:K 1:1:1 kg for (100 m) area and Pyrazosulfuron Ethyl 10 WP @6g/Kattha (1365 sq. feet or 151 m) before 12 hours of sowing. Spraying cypermethrin 25 percent EC @ 1ml/L water, cypermethrin 10 percent EC@ 2.5 ml/L water, or Deltamethrin 2.8 percent EC @ 1.5 ml/L water on paddy nursery and other crops to protect them from grasshoppers. Spray Neem oil @ 5ml/litre of water after 2-3 days.
Farmers are advised to choose and plant pigeon pea in highland areas with good water drainage. Use the Narendra Arhar-1 and Malviya Arhar varieties (MAL-13). This is the ideal time to prepare the rice nursery field by adding sufficient amounts of manure. It’s time to fill out the crop insurance paperwork from the appropriate agency. After adequate sun drying and treatments, grains are stored in fresh bags. Seed, fertilisers, and fungicide for seed treatment should all be purchased well ahead of time, according to farmers.

Advisory for Fruits cultivation
Irrigate mango and litchi plants once a week to ensure optimal fruit growth and development. Spraying Dimethoate 30EC @ 1.0 ml/L or Neem oil @ 5 ml/L twice at 10-12 days intervals for mango mealy insect management, followed by two sprays of Planofix @ 4 ml/ 10 L water at 10-12 days intervals to check fruit drop. This is the best time to set pheromone traps in mango orchards for mango fruit fly control (at a rate of 10 traps per hectare). Apply chlorpyriphos 2 percent dust @ 20 kg/ha at the root zone to control red beetle in cucurbitaceous crops and mix thoroughly. Prepare the ground for Turmeric and Ginger seeding. Apply 25-30 tonnes of FYM per hectare during final ploughing the field, and finish sowing by the middle of May.
Advisory for Fishery
Fishermen should make their own feed out of locally available ingredients such as oil cake, undecomposed grains, rice bran, mineral salt, and so on. (For 100 kilogrammes of fish feed, 40 kg oil cake, 19 kg undecomposed grain (floor), 40 kg rice bran, and 1 kg mineral combination are required.) Apply lime at a rate of 250 kg/ha and potassium permagnate at a rate of 500g/ha to ensure optimum water quality. Fill the pond with fresh water as needed to keep the water light green in colour. Harvest only the amount of produce that can be sold locally. Avoid gathering of fish while catching and selling the fish, and preserve social distance at all costs.
Advisory for Livestock
When the animal is at least 4 months old, it should be vaccinated against Theileriosis, FMD, and HS illness, and it should be repeated every 6 months. Sanitize the sick animal’s vehicle/cart, the premises, the shed, and other equipment with a 2 percent red potash solution. In the area, sprinkle bleaching powder or lime. 2-3 times a day, wash the sick animal’s tongue, mouth, feet, and nose with 1 percent red potash or 2 percent baking soda.
Provide enough clean drinking water for the animals and keep them in the shed to avoid heat stroke. Clean the poultry unit’s drain every other day and spray bleaching powder or lime on a regular basis. Provide clean, fresh water to chickens at least three times per day. Feed material should be stored for 10-15 days only. Vaccinate the poultry at specified period and if the chick shows symptoms like drowsiness, cough and distorted feet appearing or change in colour of excreta then immediately consult the nearest Veterinarian.
